Find models that can be recharged and continue cleaning where they left off. 1. iRobot s8 This smart robot vacuum and mop is a fantastic option for a wide range of homes. It is able to vacuum and mop well, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors and has a wide range of controls and features accessible through the app. It has a handy feature which allows you to create Cleaning zones in areas that require additional attention, and Keep Out zones in areas you do not want it to go. Like all Roomba devices, it receives new software updates that make it better over time. It's costly but it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has tested. It's got a huge battery that can clean all of your home in less than two hours. It can also switch between mopping and vacuuming at the press of a button. It automatically empties the dust bin above its charging station, unlike other self emptying robots which require you to empty the bin after every run. It also has a number of other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance, which utilizes a camera along with processor-powered smarts in order to recognize obstacles. It isn't often entangled or stuck during a cleaning process and is also the most effective in avoiding power cables and other objects in my tests. However, it isn't as effective in detecting pet waste or other dangers. 2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8 While the Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in budget robot vacuums, it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model which can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that offers a range of advanced features, and is able to compete with more expensive models. Laser navigation is the primary selling point of this machine. The X8 makes use of a laser mapping system that is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to construct a comprehensive picture of your space and stores multiple maps, which is great for homes with multiple floors. The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors, slinging debris under its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with ease. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are very efficient at grabbing corners and edges. It's not a great kitty litter picker, though as our tests show it only removes about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors. There's a basic mopping option that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. While this is a good option for spills that are not too large but you cannot regulate the amount of water it consumes and this will reduce its effectiveness on more severe staining. That said, it does an admirable job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7. 3. Miele RX2 Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, effective appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system, and excellent cleaning power. However, it has some operational hiccups that prevent it from being ranked as the top overall smart robot vacuum. Like iRobot's latest models, the RX2 comes with dual-sensor mapping which uses an LIDAR sensor to map a room and three 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once mapped, the app lets you designate virtual no-go zones and favorite sections that the robot will automatically clean. You can also initiate an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, see live feeds from the onboard cameras, and more on the main screen. The RX2's sensors work well in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. Its sweeping and suction powers are excellent, getting rid of surface litter from medium pile carpeting and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the fastest robotics on the market. It's not the most efficient climber, and it has problems with metal threshold transition strips. Some people buy robot vacuums because of the ease of setting up a schedule on an app, only to forget about them for weeks. But robot vacuum deals that a machine can accomplish the task, which is why our ZDNet staff tested and reviewed several of the most well-known models to help you find the best one for your home. 4. Shark ION This budget robovac that looks like any other, but comes with some extra features and a better performance. Its intelligent mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses them to avoid obstacles and navigate. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it away from steps make it one of the most agile vacuums we've tried. Its navigation skills were impressive as well as its score for composite tests on carpet and bare floors beat out the competition, and it took in 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded pet hair from our lab test samples. Its controls are a bit more basic than those of competitors. There's an oblong cleaning button at the top, and you can start it from the app, or by voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, create no-go zones and check its cleaning history. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. Its rear dustbin is accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also a breeze. 5. Eufy 11S Eufy 11S is a great option if you're looking for a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and doesn't have any frills at a low cost. It isn't equipped with some of the smart features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are found in higher-end models but if you're not looking for those functions you can save money with this model. This robot is simple to setup and use. It does not require a smartphone app or Wi-Fi pairing, but it does have the ability to control the remote with a remote that allows you to select between different modes and adjust the suction level. You can also set the robotvac to a cleaning schedule. In our tests during our tests, the 11S was extremely efficient in removing dirt and pet hair from hard floors and low-pile carpets. Its slim profile made it possible to fit under furniture with low hanging and other items that larger robots are unable to reach. It was able to pass easily over thresholds of doors and move from one floor type to another. Like other robots, the 11S is able to take in some objects like cords, drawstrings for hoodies and cat toys. The manufacturer states that you can avoid this by keeping these items off the floor and by using the possibility of a cord organizer. It also suggests that you regularly clean the dustbin, replace the filters, and clean or change the brushes when needed. 6. IRobot Roomba 980 The Roomba is iRobot’s flagship robot vacuum. It's expensive but it's the best robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self-navigating capabilities and environmental mapping are a wonder to behold. It has more advanced automation than most of its competitors, including the capability to set up virtual boundary markers with its mobile app. It's a dependable robot vacuum, even though its app isn't the most responsive and the 980 spins out when it is pushed over cables. One thing we love about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It will then use that information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum cleaner than the majority of high-end robots. Other features of the 980 include two multi-surface rubber brushes which pick up dirt from carpet and hard floors and a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate around furniture and along edges, and Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It also automatically returns to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharges between sessions. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size aren't quite as good as those of other robot vacuums, it's a solid and reliable machine that will keep your floors clean for hours on end.
